Surrey Heath needs better, safer and faster transport, from trains and buses to roads and cycling, and my Conservative colleagues and I will work together to secure the local improvements we need.
We need a faster, more accessible and more reliable rail service to help our local economy grow and to reduce congestion on our roads. I will fight for faster rail journeys from Camberley, Frimley and Bagshot to London, pressing Network Rail for the investment we need.
Better roads
I’m determined we deal with congestion in Surrey Heath. Knocking on doors the priorities of the people are the A322, A30 and Red Road. I know first-hand just how horrendous the delays can be. I will be pressing for the funding and action needed to make the necessary short-term and long-term improvements to reduce the congestion at the junction of the M3/A322, and I will work with Surrey County Council and National Highways to achieve this.
I also know just how important it is that our roads are kept in good condition to ensure safety and comfort for road users. I’m delighted that there will now be £82,436,000 of funding for Surrey’s roads from this Conservative Government over the next eleven years. That means rapid action to deal with potholes and thousands of people across Surrey Heath will now enjoy smoother, safer, and faster road journeys.
Tackling anti-social parking
This is a significant problem in particular areas in Surrey Heath, especially Frimley Green, Mytchett and Deepcut.
I want to see councils given the powers they need to fine those who practice anti-social parking, blocking pavements, pathways and rights of way.
